50 Jahre Bafög - (k)ein Grund zu feiern!

Das BAföG wird 50! Eigentlich ein Grund zum Feiern, denn die Einführung eines Rechtsanspruchs auf staatliche Unterstützung bei der Studienfinanzierung als Vollzuschuss war ein Meilenstein auf dem Weg zu freier Bildung über sozio-ökonomische Klassengrenzen hinweg. Aber das BAföG hat sich nicht gut gehalten. Jahrzehntelang wurde dem Gesetz durch verschiedene Bundesregierungen hart zugesetzt: von der faktischen Abschaffung der Schüler:innenförderung, zwischenzeitliche Umwandlung in ein Volldahrlehen, über die jahrelang versäumte Anpassung der Förderhöhe an reale Bedarfe, bis zur historisch niedrigen Förderquote von unter 11,4 Prozent aller Student:innen 2020 (1971 waren es noch ca. 45 Prozent). In der Corona-Pandemie sind die verpassten Reformen unübersehbar geworden. Am vergangenen Donnerstag (20.05.) bestätigte sogar das Bundesverwaltungsgericht in einem Gerichtsverfahren den Verstoß des BAföGs gegen das verfassungsrechtliche Teilhaberecht auf chancengleichen Zugang und legte die Frage nach der Verfassungswidrigkeit des BAföGs nun dem Bundesverfassungsgericht in Karlsruhe vor. Dies zeigt nun umso deutlicher, dass sich beim BAfög etwas ändern muss und so rufen wir weiterhin dazu auf, die Petition der Kampagne "50 Jahre BAföG - (K)ein Grund zum Feiern " zu unterschreiben: bafoeg50.de/petition/
Die Petition läuft noch bis 24. Juni, also unterschreibt alle fleißig und teilt sie mit euren Freund:innen. In der Woche vom 31.05.-04.06. wird es außerdem einen Infostand vor der Mensa geben. Kommt gerne vorbei! :)

Einladung zum Auftakttreffen der VfSB (Vertretung für Studierende mit Beeinträchtigung)

Der AStA lädt euch herzlich zum Auftakttreffen der Vertretung für Studierende mit Beeinträchtigung ein. Das Treffen findet am 08.06. um 19:00 in BBB statt. Die VfSB vertritt die Interessen aller Studierenden der Universität, die eine Beeinträchtigung, Behinderung und/oder eine chronische Krankheit haben und möchte ihre Belange stärker in den Vordergrund rücken. Neben klassischer Interessenvertretung geht es auch darum, Informationen zu streuen und Awareness zu schaffen.
Leider ist das Gremium derzeit nicht aktiv. Das wollen wir ändern! Daher sind wir auf der Suche nach Interessierten, die Lust haben sich in der VfSB zu engagieren. Das Treffen soll vor allem ein lockerer Austausch sein, bei dem wir gemeinsam planen, wie die VfSB gestaltet werden kann. Herzliche Einladung zum zweiten digitalen Eltern-Kind-Café. Das Treffen findet am 04.06.um 20:00 Uhr in BBB statt.
Es wird Raum zum Kennenlernen, Austauschen und Vernetzen geben.
Wir sind zudem auf der Suche nach Studierenden mit Kind, die in einem digitalen Erzählcafé oder in kurzen Interviews für unsere Website von ihren Erfahrungen, Problemen und Erlebnissen erzählen möchten.

Keine Unterstützung bei Diskriminierung?

Die Stelle der Antidiskriminierungsberatung für Studierende (ADS) wird ab dem 15. August nicht mehr fortgeführt. Ein Skandal! Wir wissen doch selbst nur zu genau, dass Diskriminierungen nicht nur ein individuelles, sondern ebenfalls ein strukturelles Problem und damit Teil unseres universitären Alltags sind. Eine Stelle, die unsere Erlebnisse ernst nimmt, uns berät und begleitet und bei der wir explizit Vorfälle melden können ist ein wichtiger Baustein auf dem Weg, Diskriminierungen sichtbar zu machen um sie auf Dauer zu bekämpfen. In einer Aktionswoche vom 07. bis zum 11. Juni wollen wir auf diesen Missstand aufmerksam machen: Folgt unseren Social Media Kanälen und bleibt up to date, was genau die ADS eigentlich macht, wieso wir als Studierende sie brauchen und was ihr selbst tun könnt, um zu protestieren.

Bis zum 15. August könnt ihr außerdem noch sowohl selbst erlebte als auch beobachtete Vorfälle melden oder selbst online Beratung in Anspruch nehmen.

Einladung zum Initiativentreffen

In der Coronakrise sitzen wir alle vor allem im Homeoffice. Zeit und Gelegenheit Kommiliton:innen kennenzulernen oder gemeinsam etwas zu unternehmen blieb da kaum. Dabei gibt es an der Uni so viele Möglichkeiten aktiv zu werden und mitzugestalten. Deshalb richtet das Hochschulreferat am 04.06. um 18 Uhr ein erstes Initiativentreffen aus. Bei diesem Treffen können sich Initiativen vorstellen und erzählen, wie man bei ihnen einsteigen kann.

AK Studierendenvernetzung und Systemakkreditierung: Erfahrungsaustausch für aktive Studis

Um den zahlreichen aktiven Studis in den Fachgruppen, den verschiedenen Gremien der Uni und den zur Uniwahl kandidierenden Gruppen eine Möglichkeit zum Austausch von Erfahrung und zur Planung gemeinsamer Projekte zu geben, hat das Hochschulreferat den AK Studierendenvernetzung initiiert. Neben den regelmäßigen Treffen dieses AKs ist zurzeit eine Stud.IP-Gruppe im Aufbau, deren Forum als jederzeit verfügbarer Bereich für Austausch und Vernetzung bereitstehen soll. Wenn ihr also in einem Unigremium, einer Fachgruppe, einer Hochschulgruppe oder irgendeinem anderen Bereich der Unipolitik aktiv seid (oder euch einfach dafür interessiert), tretet gerne in die Stud.IP-Gruppe ein.

In der zweiten Juniwoche wird das erste Treffen des AK Studierendenvernetzung stattfinden; die Treffen sind zurzeit noch online über BigBlueButton. Einstiegsthema soll die Finanzsituation der Uni und die von der Landesregierung veranlassten Mittelkürzungen sein. Wenn ihr Interesse habt, an dem Treffen teilzunehmen, tragt bitte in diese Terminumfrage ein, wann ihr Zeit habt.

Wenn ihr euch direkt bei etwas einbringen möchtet, gibt es auch dazu eine aktuelle Gelegenheit. Das Hochschulreferat bereitet zurzeit die neue studentische Stellungnahme zur Systemakkreditierung vor und sucht interessierte Studis, die daran mitarbeiten möchten. Wenn ihr also eure Einschätzung des bisherigen Ablaufs der Systemakkreditierung einbringen möchtet, meldet euch gerne unter hochschule@asta.uni-goettingen.de.

Wenn ihr weitere Infos zur Systemakkreditierung haben möchtet, ist das erste Treffen des AK Systemakkreditierung am Freitag den 28.05. um 16 Uhr die ideale Gelegenheit dafür. Auch dieses Treffen findet online in BBB statt.

Information zum Beschluss zur Fernaufsicht: Achtet auf die Einhaltung eurer Rechte

Am 07.04. bzw. 28.04.2021 hat das Präsidium unserer Universität einen Beschluss zur Fernaufsicht (eigentlich Fernüberwachung) gefasst.

In der jetzt beschlossenen Form wurde aus unserer Sicht die mildeste Variante des Proctorings gewählt, die möglich war. Der Beschluss zur Fernaufsicht stellt eine Ausnahmeregelung dar, die nur angewendet werden darf, wenn alle anderen Mittel der prüfungsdidaktischen Anpassungen zur Sicherung der Chancengleichheit, die mit einem geringeren Eingriff in den Datenschutz und das private Umfeld verbunden sind, ausgeschöpft sind und die Chancengleichheit dann immer noch nicht gewährleistet ist. Und auch in dem Fall sind die Überwachungsmöglichkeiten, die eure Dozierenden haben, stark begrenzt. Um zu erfahren, welche das genau sind bzw. was eure Dozierenden nicht dürfen, schaut euch unsere Zusammenfassung (pdf) an.

Aber auch, wenn der Beschluss relativ mild ist, wird damit in den Datenschutz und in das private Umfeld von uns Studierenden eingegriffen. Deswegen müssen wir alle dafür sorgen, dass dieser Eingriff nur so weit passiert, wie in dem Beschluss vorgesehen und nicht weiter!

Achtet darauf, dass in euren Studiengängen der Beschluss eingehalten wird. Sollten eure Dozierenden das nicht tun, fordern wir euch auf, dem eindringlich zu widersprechen, nicht nachzugeben und uns frühzeitig um Unterstützung zu bitten.
Meldet euch bei hochschule@asta.uni-goettingen.de. Das gilt natürlich auch, wenn ihr weitere Fragen zum Beschluss zur Fernaufsicht oder sonst irgendwelche Beschwerden, Sorgen oder Fragen zu der Durchführung eurer Prüfungen habt. Wir helfen euch gerne!

Göttingen Zero kurz vorm Ziel!

Das Klimabegehren von Göttingen Zero will die Stadt verpflichten, bis 2030 klimaneutral zu werden. Aktuelle Planungen sehen vor, dies erst 2050 zu erreichen, was viel zu spät ist. Jetzt werden noch 2000 Unterschriften benötigt, um die notwendigen 8000 Unterschriften zu erreichen. Jede Stimme zählt!
Am Samstag gibt es von 11-15 Uhr in der Innenstadt vielfältige Aktionen von Göttingen Zero, bei denen ihr Gelegenheit habt zu unterschreiben und mitzumachen.
Es gibt zudem viele weitere Möglichkeiten, das Begehren (kontaktlos) zu unterschreiben, zum Beispiel in dem ihr euch die Listen ausdruckt oder per Post schicken lasst und zurückschickt oder in dafür bereitgestellte Briefkästen werft. Der AStA und das Studierendenparlament unterstützen Göttingen Zero und den Klimaentscheid Göttingen. Wir fordern als Vertretung der Göttinger Studierendenschaft von unserer Stadt konkretes Handeln für ambitionierten Klimaschutz und eine lebenswerte Stadt ein und wollen das mitgestalten.
Natürlich ist mit einer Unterschrift die Klimakrise noch nicht abgewendet. Darum ist es wichtig, sich auch aktiv politisch einzubringen und für eine solidarische, klimagerechte Welt einzutreten!   Aktuell sind wir dabei eine Vortragsreihe für das Jahr zu entwickeln. Konsumkritik, gesellschaftliche Transformationsprozesse, Klimawandelfolgen, kontroverse Lösungsansätze und mehr sollen dabei von verschiedenen Expert:innen beleuchtet werden. Genauere Infos werden noch bekannt gegeben!
• Impfvortrag am 08.06.2021 um 18 Uhr auf BBB
  Bei diesem Vortrag könnt ihr euch über Impfungen informieren und offene Fragen klären. Wir wollen damit angesichts der bald aufgehobenen Priorisierung bestehende Informationsangebote ergänzen.
• FFF Klimastreik am 04.06. 10 Uhr neues Rathaus

Klimaneutrale Uni? Auf dem Weg zu mehr Nachhaltigkeit

Unsere Universität ist nicht nur eine Station im Lebenslauf, sondern auch ein großer Akteur mit vielen Angehörigen, Gebäuden und Infrastruktur, eigener Energieversorgung und eigenem Beschaffungswesen. Als Institution für wissenschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Fortschritt hat die Universität eine besondere Verantwortung.
Deshalb ist es wichtig, dass das gesamte Handeln ökologisch und nachhaltig ist.
Ein dringender Punkt dabei ist die Klimaneutralität. Die aktuellen Bemühungen für Klimaschutz sind überall zu wenig und müssen verschärft werden. Das ist schon lange bekannt und einige Universitäten haben bereits angefangen das umzusetzen, in Göttingen ist bisher nichts geschehen.
Durch die Initiative von sieben Göttinger Professor:innen hat das Thema neuen Schwung bekommen und der Senat der Universität hat sich nun für weitreichende Maßnahmen ausgesprochen.
Wir werden als AStA den anlaufenden Prozess mitgestalten und drängen darauf, dass konkrete Maßnahmen ergriffen werden und die Universität ihrer Verantwortung gerecht wird. Dabei ist es wichtig, dass ein umfassendes Verständnis von Nachhaltigkeit angewendet wird, damit nicht nach der Klimakrise unter anderem durch das Artensterben direkt die nächste Krise folgt.
Gemeinsam mit den studentischen Senator:innen wollen wir die Perspektive der Studierenden stärken. Das bedeutet auch, dass ein interdisziplinäres Lehrangebot im Bereich Ökologie und Nachhaltigkeit als Nachfolge des Studium Oecologicum geschaffen wird. Im Moment wird gemeinsam mit vielen Stellen der Universität nach einer Möglichkeit gesucht, trotz finanzieller Kürzungen ein Zertifikatprogramm zu ermöglichen.

50 years Bafög - (not) a reason to celebrate!

The BAföG turns 50! Actually a reason to celebrate, because the introduction of a legal entitlement to state support for student financing as a full grant was a milestone on the way to free education across socio-economic class boundaries. But the BAföG did not hold up well. For decades, the law was hard hit by various federal governments: from the de facto abolition of pupil funding, temporary conversion into a full loan, to the years of neglecting to adjust the amount of funding to real needs, eventually leading to the historically low funding rate of under 11.4 percent of all students in 2020 (in 1971 it was still around 45 percent). During the corona pandemic, the overdue reforms have become obvious. Last Thursday (May 20th) the Federal Administrative Court even confirmed that BAföG offends against the constitutional right to gain equal access to education at it is stated in the constitution. As a result, the question was now submitted to to the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe to examine its being unconstitutional. This shows even more clearly that some change has to come considering the BAfög and that is why we continue to call on you to sign the petition of the campaign "50 Years BAföG - (not) a reason to celebrate": bafoeg50.de/petition/
The petition runs until June 24th, so please sign diligently and share it with your friends. From May 31st to June 4th, there will also be an information stand in front of the cafeteria. Come by! :)
All people, regardless of their financial and family circumstances, should be able to afford the education they want!

Invitation to the kick-off meeting of the VfSB (representation for students with disabilities)

The AStA cordially invites you to the kick-off meeting of the representation for students with disabilities (german: Vertretung für Studierende mit Beeinträchtigung, VfSB) . The meeting will take place on June 8th at 19:00 in BBB. The VfSB represents the interests of all students at the university who have an impairment, handicap and / or chronic illness and would like to have their concerns heard. In addition to the conventional representation of interests, it is also the issue to spread information and create awareness.
Unfortunately, the committee is currently not active. We want to change that! We are therefore looking for interested people who would like to get involved in the VfSB. Above all, the meeting should be a casual exchange of ideas about how to organize the VfSB. No support against discrimination?

The Anti-Discrimination Counselling for Students [ADS] will no longer be continued from August 15th. A scandal ! We all know too well that discrimination is not only an individual but also a structural problem and therefore part of our everyday university life. A permanent position that takes our experiences seriously, advises and accompanies us and that we can explicitly report incidents to is an important component on the way to making discrimination visible in order to fight it in the long term. In an action week from June 7th to 11th, we want to draw attention to this problem: Follow our social media channels and stay up to date on what exactly the ADS actually does, why we as students need it and what you can do yourself to protest.

Until august 15th you can also report incidents you have experienced or witnessed or get advice and if wanted counselling online.

Inviation Initiative Meeting

During the current Corona crisis, we spent a lot of time in our home offices. There isn't much time or opportunity to get to know fellow students or actually meet up with them. And yet there are so many possibilities to be active in and around the university. Therefore, the Hochschulreferat organises a first Initiative Meeting on June 4th at 6 p.m. During this meeting different Initiatives will present themselves and and talk about how to join them.

The Initiative Meeting will take place via BigBlueButton.

Student Networking and 'Systemakkreditierung': Get in contact with other active students

In order to provide the numerous active students in the Fachgruppen, the various committees of the university and the groups running for office in the university elections with an opportunity to exchange experience and to plan joint projects, the Hochschulreferat has initiated the AK Studierendenvernetzung (AK Student Networking). Aside from the regular meetings of this AK, a Stud.IP group is currently being established; the forum of this group is intended to serve as a perpetually available room for conversation and networking. So if you’re active in a university committee, a Fachgruppe, a students’ group or any other area of university politics (or if you’re simply interested in those matters), join the Stud.IP group.

In the second week of June, the first meeting of the AK Studierendenvernetzung will take place; the initial meetings will be held online, via BigBlueButton. The initial topic of the AK will be the financial situation of the university and the budget cuts imposed by the state government. If you’re interested in participating in the meeting, please enter the dates that would be convenient for you into this poll.

The final date and the link to the BBB room will be announced in the Stud.IP group.

If you want to participate in something specific right away, there is an opportunity. The Hochschulreferat is currently preparing the new Students’ Statement on the Systemakkreditierung process (the self-evaluation of the university which is necessary for the renewal of the various courses’ licenses). So if you want to offer your assessment of the current measures related to the Systemakkreditierung, feel free to contact us by mail to hochschule@asta.uni-goettingen.de.

If you want further information regarding the Systemakkreditierung, the first meeting of the AK Systemakkreditierung on Friday the 28th of May at 4 p.m. is an ideal opportunity. This meeting will be held online in BBB as well.

Information about the resolution on remote proctoring

On April 7 and April 28, 2021, the praesidium of our university passed a resolution on remote proctoring.

The mildest form of proctoring that was possible from our point of view has been selected. The resolution on remote proctoring may only be applied if equal opportunities cannot be ensured otherwise. Thus, all possible exam-didactic adjustments that involve less infringement into students´ privacy laws, were tried but failed to ensure equal opportunities for all. If that is the case, the monitoring options that your faculty are allowed to use are still limited. To learn more about your rights and your faculty´s boundaries, check out our summary (pdf).
Unfortunately, the summary is available in German only.

Although the resolution is mild, our privacy will be infringed by the proctoring. Thus, we all must make sure that this interference only happens as far as it is allowed and no further!

Please make sure that your lecturers follow the resolution in detail. If your lecturers refuse, we urge you to oppose firmly, not to give up your resistance, and to ask for our support. This applies if you have any further questions about the resolution on remote proctoring or any other complaints, concerns, or questions about how your exams will be conducted.

Göttingen Zero close to the goal!

The Göttingen Zero climate initiative wants to commit the city to becoming climate neutral by 2030. Current plans call for this not to be achieved until 2050, which is far too late. Now 2000 signatures are still needed to reach the necessary 8000 signatures.Everyone counts!
On Saturday, there will be a variety of actions by Göttingen Zero in the city center from 11-15, where you will have the opportunity to sign and join in.
There are also many other ways to sign the petition (contactless), for example, by printing out the lists or having them sent by mail and returning them or dropping them in the mailboxes provided for this purpose. The AStA and the student parliament support Göttingen Zero and the Climate Decision Göttingen. As representatives of the Göttingen student body, we demand concrete action from our city for ambitious climate protection and a livable city, and we want to help shape this.
Of course, one signature does not mean that the climate crisis has been averted. That is why it is important to get actively involved politically and to stand up for a solidary, climate-just world! Climate-neutral university? On the way to more sustainability

Our university is not just a station in our lives, but also a major player with many members, buildings and infrastructure, its own energy supply and procurement system. As an institution for scientific and social progress, the university has a special responsibility.
Therefore, it is important that all actions are ecological and sustainable.
One urgent point in this regard is climate neutrality. Current efforts for climate protection are too little everywhere and need to be strengthened. This has been known for a long time and some universities have already started to implement this, in Göttingen nothing has happened so far.
Through the initiative of seven Göttingen University professors, the topic has gained new momentum and the University Senate has now spoken out in favor of far-reaching measures.
As AStA, we will help shape the process that is now underway and urge that concrete measures be taken and that the university live up to its responsibility. In doing so, it is important that a comprehensive understanding of sustainability is applied, so that the climate crisis is not immediately followed by the next crisis due to species extinction, among other things.
Together with the student senators, we want to strengthen the students' perspective. This also means creating an interdisciplinary course in ecology and sustainability as a successor to the Studium Oecologicum. At the moment, we are working with many offices at the university to find a way to make a certificate program possible despite financial cuts.
If a solution is found, we will inform you about it!

How to contact the Council of International Students

The Council of International Students (ASR) is a representative body whose members are elected annually by the Parliament of International Students (ASP).

The commitee collects relevant information and deals with issues encountered by international students during their studies at the University of Göttingen. The ASR represents them in the appropriate forums and aims at solving not only individual problems, but further at improving the services offered or by creating new ones.
