Alle Informationen und Bekanntmachungen der Wahlleitung gibts hier.

Die Zahl der Wahl- und Stimmzettel, die ihr ausfüllen dürft, liegt zwischen sechs und acht. Bei bis zu sechs Wahlen dürft ihr eure Vertreter*innen für die verschiedenen Ebenen und Strukturen der Universität wählen, außerdem stimmt ihr in der Urabstimmung über die Semestertickets ab. Nachfolgend sind die verschiedenen Wahlen aufgelistet:

Studierendenparlament (StuPa)
Ihr wählt in jedem Fall jeweils eine*n Vertreter*in für das Studierendenparlament (StuPa), welches das höchste beschlussfassende Organ der Studierendenschaft der Universität Göttingen ist und u. a. den Allgemeinen Studierendenausschuss (AStA) wählt und kontrolliert. Würde man das politische System der Bundesrepublik als Analogie zurate ziehen, so entspräche das Studierendenparlament dem Bundestag, und der AStA entspräche der Bundesregierung.

Diese Gruppen treten bei der Wahl zum Studierendenparlament an:

Fachschaftsparlament (FSP)
Weiter wählt ihr eine*n Vertreter*in für euer jeweiliges Fachschaftsparlament, welches dann u.a. euren Fachschaftsrat (FSR) wählt und kontrolliert. Die kandidierenden Listen für euer jeweiliges Fachschaftsparlament findet ihr in der Wahlbekanntmachung. Das Fachschaftsparlament entspräche in der Analogie einem Landtag, der Fachschaftsrat entspräche der Landesregierung.

Fachgruppensprecher*in (FG)
Innerhalb einiger Fakultäten gibt es unterhalb der Fachschaft bei der studentischen Selbstverwaltung noch sogenannte Fachgruppen. Eine Fachgruppe ist in der Regel die Vertretung für ein Fach (bspw. Biochemie, Zahnmedizin, Politikwissenschaft oder Germanistik). Alle Studierenden die einer solchen Fachgruppe zugeordnet sind wählen eine*n Fachgruppensprecher*in als ihre Vertretung. Oftmals ist es jedoch so, dass nur eine Person zu der jeweiligen Wahl antritt, wodurch diese Person direkt als gewählt gilt und die Wahl entfällt. Die*der Fachgruppensprecher*in lässt sich am ehesten mit eine*m direkt gewählten Oberbürgermeister*in vergleichen.

International Student Council (ISC)
Alle Studierenden die keine deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft oder zusätzlich zur deutschen Staatsbürgerschaft eine weitere Staatsbürgerschaft besitzen, dürfen zusätzlich eine eigene Vertretung wählen, nämlich das International Student Parliament (ISP), das analog zum Studierendenparlament das International Student Council (ISC) wählt. Eine solche spezielle Vertretung gibt es im politischen System der Bundesrepublik nicht.

Senat
Abseits der studentischen Organe dürft ihr auch über die Besetzung der sogenannten Kollegialorgane mitbestimmen. Auf universitätsweiter Ebene hat der Senat weitreichende Kontroll-, Informations- und Entscheidungsrechte und wählt u.a. die Mitglieder des Präsidiums. Die Zahl der Studierenden im Senat beträgt 2 von 13 Mitgliedern.

Fakultätsrat
Die Fakultätsräte bilden für jede Fakultät das höchste direkt gewählte Gremium und verfügen in diesem Bereich über ähnliche Kontroll-, Informations- und Entscheidungsrechte wie der Senat. Sie wählen u.a. die Mitglieder des Dekanats der jeweiligen Fakultät. Die Zahl der Studierenden in den Fakultätsräten beträgt jeweils 2 von 13 Mitgliedern.
Für Senat und Fakultätsrat lässt sich kein passendes Äquivalent in der Bundespolitik finden. Die Organe bestimmen jeweils über alles, was nicht nur Studierende betrifft; Sie vertreten und verwalten die gesamte Universität, sind also u.a. für die Finanzplanung, Personal, Ordnungen (einschließlich Prüfungs- und Studienordnungen), die Organisation von Forschung und Lehre etc. zuständig.

Online-Urabstimmung Semestertickets

Auch in diesem Jahr stimmt die Studierendenschaft wieder über die Einführung der Semestertickets für das WiSe 2026/27 und das SoSe 2027 ab.

Zur Auswahl stehen in diesem Jahr:

1. Das Kultursemesterticket für 11,88€
2. Das Deutschlandsemesterticket für 60% des normalen Preises; im WiSe 2026/27: 37,80 € pro Monat also 226,80 € pro Semester

Sozialberatung des AStA (auch am Nordcampus)

Das Sozialreferat bietet auch in diesem Wintersemester Sprechstunden an. Kommt also vorbei mit all euren Fragen rund um Studienfinanzierung, Studieren mit Kind, barrierefreies Studium, Semesterticketrückerstattung uvm., wir versuchen euch weiterzuhelfen!

Die Sprechzeiten sind Dienstags von 14 - 16 Uhr, Mittwochs von 15 - 17 Uhr und Donnerstags von 14 - 16 Uhr. Sprechstunden der Psychosozialen Beratung (PSB)

Auch die Psychosoziale Beratung (PSB) des Studierendenwerkes bietet dieses Wintersemester Hilfsangebote an. Denn das Studium besteht nicht nur aus Erfolgserlebnissen. Prüfungsangst, Redehemmung im Seminar, Probleme beim Lernen, Einsamkeit, Selbstzweifel, "Abnabelungsprobleme", Leistungsdruck: die Probleme von Studierenden sind so vielfältig wie die Anforderungen, die ein Hochschulstudium an sie stellt.

Scheue dich also nicht, bei persönlichen und studienbedingten Problemen fachliche Hilfe in Anspruch zu nehmen. Es ist ein Zeichen von Souveränität, sich die Unterstützung zu holen, die man braucht. Die PSB bietet telefonische offene Sprechzeiten (OS) an, in denen du dich mit deinen Anliegen melden und einen weiterführenden Termin vereinbaren kannst: Di, Mi, Do von 12 - 13 Uhr.

Gute Nachrichten zum Thema Vogelschlag

Das AStA Klimareferat hat in den letzten Wochen Meldungen von Vögeln entgegengenommen, die mit Uniglasscheiben kollidiert und daran verendet sind. Uns haben diverse Meldungen erreicht, danke erst einmal für die rege Beteiligung. Dies zeigte aber auch, dass Vogelschlag an Unigebäuden ein ernstzunehmendes Problem ist. Um das Vogelschlagrisiko zu reduzieren, sind nun verschiedene Markierungen an Unigebäuden geplant.

Ausgehend von unserem Projekt zu dem Thema hat ein konstruktiver Austausch mit dem Gebäudemanagement der Uni stattgefunden. In der Dezembersitzung der Kommission für Klima und Nachhaltigkeit stellte das Gebäudemanagement dann die geplanten Maßnahmen vor. Zunächst werden an drei Standorten mit erhöhtem Risiko Punkt- oder Strichmarkierungen an den Fenstern angebracht. Dies erhöht die Sichtbarkeit der Fenster für Vögel. An weiteren Standorten sollen bei Meldungen Begehungen durchgeführt werden.

Ihr könnt tote Vögel gerne weiterhin an die Mailadresse oekologie@asta.uni-goettingen.de schicken. So können dann weitere Stellen mit erhöhtem Vogelschlagrisiko und damit erhöhtem Handlungsbedarf festgestellt werden.

Nachhaltiger Konsum in Göttingen

Um sich über Möglichkeiten zu nachhaltigerem Konsum in Göttingen zu informieren, bietet die Stadt eine Internetseite an. Hier könnt ihr euch zu Reparaturservices, Tausch- oder Sharing-Möglichkeiten sowie Geschäften mit überwiegend nachhaltigem Angebot informieren. In Göttingen gibt es bereits viele spannende Angebote rund um nachhaltigeren Konsum.

AStA Vortrag verpasst?

Der AStA organisiert am laufenden Band Veranstaltungen, die aufgrund von Terminkollisionen nicht immer von allen Studierenden wahrgenommen werden können. Zum Glück gibt es von manchen Vorträgen einen Online-Mitschnitt zum Nachhören.

• Am 24.11. hatte der AStA Thomas von der Osten-Sacken zu Gast mit seinem Vortrag "Der Nahe Osten: Chancen und Gefahren der jüngsten Umbrüche". In dem Vortrag werden die aktuellen politischen und gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen in Ländern wie Syrien, Irak, Iran und Libanon beleuchtet.

• Am 27.10. hatte der AStA Leo Roepert zu Gast mit seinem Vortrag "Rassismus in der Neuen Rechten". Der Vortrag gibt einen Überblick über das Weltbild der „Neuen Rechten“ und zeigt auf, welche Rolle rassistische Argumentationsmuster und Zuschreibungen darin spielen.

• Am 01.07. hatte der AStA Julian Bierwirth zu Gast mit seinem Vortrag "Sehnsucht nach Anerkennung - Zur politischen Ökonomie antidemokratischer Bewegungen". In dem Vortrag wird gezeigt, warum autoritäre und neurechte Bewegungen auf globaler Ebene immer mehr an Einfluss gewinnen.

• Am 07.05. hatte der AStA Lothar Galow-Bergemann zu Gast mit seinem Vortrag
  "Nie wieder! heißt auch: Aus linken Fehlern lernen. Essentials eines erfolgreicheren Antifaschismus". In dem Vortrag werden Essentials eines Antifaschismus entwickelt, der aus eigenen Fehlern lernen, der autoritären Welle mit Aussicht auf Erfolg entgegentreten und Perspektiven für eine bessere Welt aufzeigen kann.

Vortrag: Biodiversität und Klimakrise - wie funktioniert Vogelzugforschung und welche Auswirkungen haben Klimaveränderungen auf Zugvögel

Verändert sich das Klima, so hat dies Auswirkungen auf die Artenvielfalt. Um diese Veränderungen festzustellen und zu beziffern, werden häufig Bestandsdaten von Vögeln genutzt. Vögel eignen sich als Indikatoren, da sie verhältnismäßig gut erfasst werden können - sie kommen in vielen Gebieten vor, sind auffällig und vergleichsweise leicht zu bestimmen.
In diesem Vortrag soll es zunächst um generelle Methoden der Vogelzugforschung gehen. Ausgehend davon steht die Frage, wie sich der Klimawandel auf den Vogelzug auswirkt im Mittelpunkt.

Vortrag: Ökologische Ökonomie mit Steffen Lange

Wann: 28. Januar, 17:00 Uhr

Der Ökonom Dr. Steffen Lange befasst sich in seiner Forschung mit der sozial-ökonomischen Transformation. In seinem Vortrag wird er eine Einführung in die ökologische Ökonomik und die Kontroversen zur Wachstumsfrage geben. Im Zentrum wird dabei die Frage stehen, ob anhaltendes Wirtschaftswachstum mit ökologischer Nachhaltigkeit tatsächlich vereinbar ist. Diese Frage steht seit rund 80 Jahren im Zentrum der Auseinandersetzung. Darauf aufbauend wird Steffen Lange auch skizzieren, wie eine Wirtschaft jenseits des Wachstums – eine Postwachstumsökonomie – gestaltet sein könnte. Der Vortag wird im ZHG 105 um 17 Uhr beginnen.

Podiumsdiskussion: Besser um die Zukunft streiten

In der Klimadebatte wiederholen sich die gleichen Phrasen, der zielorientierte Austausch scheint zu stocken. Dass die Debatte aber nach wie vor lebendig ist, verdeutlichen die fünf Philosoph:innen hinter dem Buch Besser um die Zukunft streiten (Hanser 2026). Darin hinterfragen sie haltlose Ausreden und unscharfe Slogans, die den konstruktiven Diskurs bremsen und echten Lösungen im Weg stehen. ›Allein kann ich nichts bewirken‹ entpuppt sich dabei als fahrlässiger Satz. Kirsten Meyer und Dominic Roser, zwei der Autor:innen, sprechen über Wege zu einem ehrlicheren und wirksameren Streit um unsere Zukunft.

The number of ballots and ballot papers you are allowed to fill in is between six and eight. You can vote for your representatives for the various levels and structures of the university in up to six elections, and you can also vote on the semester tickets in the ballot. Student Parliament (StuPa)

In each case, you elect a representative for the Student Parliament (StuPa), which is the highest decision-making body of the University of Göttingen's student body and, among other things, elects and controls the General Student Committee (AStA). If one were to use the political system of the Federal Republic of Germany as an analogy, the student parliament would correspond to the Bundestag, and the AStA would correspond to the federal government.

Student representative council (FSP)

You also elect a representative for your respective student council parliament, which then elects and controls your student council (FSR), among other things. You can find the lists of candidates for your respective student council parliament in the election announcement. By analogy, the student council parliament would correspond to a state parliament, the student council would correspond to the state government.

Faculty group spokesperson (FG)

Within some faculties, there are so-called departmental groups below the student council in student self-administration. A departmental group is usually the representative body for a subject (e.g. biochemistry, dentistry, political science or German studies). All students who are assigned to such a subject group elect a subject group spokesperson to represent them. However, it is often the case that only one person stands for the respective election, which means that this person is considered directly elected and the election is canceled. The subject group spokesperson is most comparable to a directly elected mayor.

International Student Council (ISC)

All students who do not have German citizenship or who have another citizenship in addition to German citizenship may also elect their own representatives, namely the International Student Parliament (ISP), which elects the International Student Council (ISC) in the same way as the student parliament. There is no such special representation in the political system of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Senate

Apart from the student bodies, you can also have a say in the composition of the so-called collegial bodies. At university-wide level, the Senate has far-reaching control, information and decision-making rights and, among other things, elects the members of the Presidential Board. The number of students in the Senate is 2 out of 13 members.

Faculty Council

The faculty councils are the highest directly elected body for each faculty and have similar control, information and decision-making rights to the Senate in this area. Among other things, they elect the members of the Dean's Office of the respective faculty. The number of students on the faculty councils is 2 out of 13 members. No suitable equivalent can be found for the Senate and Faculty Council in federal politics. They represent and administer the entire university, i.e. they are responsible for financial planning, personnel, regulations (including examination and study regulations), the organization of research and teaching, etc.

Online referendum on semester tickets

This year, the student body will once again vote on the introduction of semester tickets for the 2026/27 winter semester and the 2027 summer semester.

The choices this year are:

1. The culture semester ticket for €11.88
2. The Germany semester ticket (Deutschlandticket) for 60% of the normal price; in the 2026/27 winter semester: €37.80 per month, i.e. €226.80 per semester

The Social Department is also offering consultation hours this winter semester. So come by with all your questions about student financing, studying with children, barrier-free studies, semester ticket refunds and much more, we will try to help you!

Trans*counselling service of the AStA

We still offer peer-to-peer counseling to trans* people, especially students and employees of the University of Göttingen, if needed also their relatives. The advice can be uni-specific, but also cover all other aspects of being trans*. The consultation can take place in both German and English, online, on the phone or face to face. Consultation hours for the Pychosocial Counselling Service (PSB)

The Psychosocial Counseling Service (PSB) of the Studierendenwerk is also offering help this winter semester. Because studying is not just about success. Exam nerves, inhibited speech in seminars, problems with studying, loneliness, self-doubt, “cutting the cord” problems, pressure to perform: students' problems are as varied as the demands placed on them by university studies.

So don't be afraid to seek professional help for personal and study-related problems. It is a sign of confidence to get the support you need. The PSB offers telephone open consultation hours where you can get in touch with your concerns and arrange a follow-up appointment: Tues, Wed, Thurs from 12 - 1 pm.

Good news concerning bird strike

In the past weeks, the AStA climate department collected reports about birds colliding with university buildings. We received many responses – thank you for your participation. Sadly, this shows that bird strike is a serious problem at our university. To reduce the risk of bird strike, several measures are now planned.

As part of our project on this topic, there was constructive communication with the facility management. In December, at the commission for climate and sustainability, the facility management presented their planned measures to reduce bird strike. Initially, at three high-risk locations, windows will be marked with points or stripes. This increases the visibility of the windows for birds.

You can continue to report dead birds to the e-mail address oekologie@asta.uni-goettingen.de. This way, further locations with high bird strike risk can be identified.

AStA lecture missed?

The AStA is constantly organizing events that not all students can always attend due to scheduling conflicts. Fortunately, there is an online recording of some lectures to listen to.

• On 24 November, the AStA welcomed Thomas von der Osten-Sacken as a guest speaker with his lecture ‘The Middle East: Opportunities and dangers of the recent upheavals’. The lecture highlighted the current political and social changes in countries such as Syria, Iraq, Iran and Lebanon.

• On 27 October, the AStA welcomed Leo Roepert as a guest speaker with his lecture ‘Racism in the New Right’. The lecture provides an overview of the worldview of the ‘New Right’ and highlights the role that racist patterns of argumentation and attributions play in it.

• On July 1, the AStA welcomed Julian Bierwirth as a guest speaker with his lecture “Longing for Recognition - On the Political Economy of Anti-Democratic Movements”. The lecture will show why authoritarian and new right-wing movements are gaining more and more influence on a global level.

• On May 7, the AStA hosted Lothar Galow-Bergemann with his lecture
  "Never again! also means: Learning from left-wing mistakes. Essentials of a more successful anti-fascism". The lecture will develop the essentials of anti-fascism, which can learn from its own mistakes, counter the authoritarian wave with prospects for success, and point to perspectives for a better world.

Lecture: Biodiversity and the climate crisis – how bird migration research works and what effects climate change has on migratory birds

When: 20 January, 6 p.m.

A changing climate affects biodiversity. Data that is often used to ascertain and quantify these changes are bird population numbers. Birds are often used as indicators because they are relatively easy to monitor, are widespread in different areas, and comparatively easy to identify.

This lecture introduces scientific methods to do research on bird migration. Based on this, the effect of climate change on bird migration will be discussed. Afterwards there is time for questions.

Lecture: Ecological economics with Steffen Lange

When: 28 January, 5 p.m.

Steffen Lange, who holds a doctorate in economics, focuses his research on socio-economic transformation. His lecture will cover the question, if economic growth is compatible with a sustainable future. He then opens the question of how an economic system can be restructured in a climate-neutral future and why this process is linked to the end of economic growth. The lecture will be held in German and begins at 5 p.m. in ZHG 105.

Panel diskussion: Arguing better about the future

The debate around the climate sometimes seems not very productive. The same sentences are repeated over and over. However, the debate can be alive – that is shown by five philosophists in the book "Besser um die Zukunft streiten" (Hanser 2026). There they question unfounded excuses and other slogans that slow down a real discourse and stop real changes. Kirsten Meyer and Dominic Roser, two of the authors, talk at this event about opportunities for a more active debate concerning our future.
